The Tippy Canoe Story

Around the turn of the century (that's Y2K), two clever and energetic gals, Sharon Taylor and Robin Maloof, converged in the beautiful environs of Durango, Colorado with the passion to bring all things wonderful for the home to their town that was desperately seeking a “make-over” opportunity.

Their desire was born out of their own exasperating, first-hand experiences in finding home furnishings that were something other than “brown and boring.” Durango needed a great place to find an interesting, well-made variety of home furnishings. A place to actually touch and feel the furniture, sit in a variety of cushy chairs and sofas, see the genuine hand-rubbed finishes on real cabinets and tables - not just a collection of 3x5 wood chips held together by a chain. (Who wants to merely view a catalog picture or visit a cold warehouse with rows of plain coffee furniture when the look you really want is caramel latte with an extra shot of espresso?) Durango needed a place to go for home décor inspiration. It needed Tippy Canoe.

Known for their great taste and home furnishings background, our two clever and energetic gals formed a partnership in 2003, determined to scour America to find all that is wonderful in home décor for you.
